Paraffin is a mixture of hydrocarbons extracted from certain distillates of petroleum, shale oil, or other bituminous mineral oils, consisting primarily of solid alkenes, odorless and tasteless, white or pale yellow translucent solids.  Paraffin wax is amorphous but has a distinct crystalline structure.  Other artificial paraffin wax.
