Characteristic：

When the copper sulfate solution is concentrated and crystallized, the blue crystal of copper sulfate pentahydrate can be obtained, commonly known as gallerum, copper alum or blue alum, with a relative density of 2.284. Bile alum is very stable at room temperature and pressure, no deliquescence, and will gradually weathered in dry air. When heated to 45℃, it loses two molecules of water of crystal, 110℃ when it loses four molecules of water of crystal, 150℃ when it loses all water of crystal and becomes anhydrous. Anhydrous material is also easy to convert into water absorption of biliary alum. This property is often used to test whether certain liquid organic substances contain trace amounts of water. When it is heated to 650℃, it can be decomposed into black copper oxide, sulfur dioxide and oxygen.

Copper sulfate is one of the most important copper salts. It is widely used in electroplating, printing and dyeing, pigment, pesticide and so on. The inorganic pesticide Bordeaux solution is a mixture of copper sulfate and lime milk. It is a good fungicide and can be used to prevent and control a variety of crop diseases.
